"Colours as well as styles make an impact," said narrator Spindr. Collingridge. "Red is a stimulant, increasing body temperature and suggesting dominance."
As Scarlet O'Hritzuk strutted the runway in tomato-red cocktail gown and co-ordinating silk shoes, her presence definitely dominated the room. True to its nature, the outfit's colour caused temperatures to increase a degree or two.
Pink is playful, demonstrated grinning artiste Low Rein deSmith in paint-smeared smock with matching colour-dotted slacks. Accessorized by fine horsehair brushes and tastefully paint-splattered sneakers, deSmith depicted a picture of mischievousness.
Black can be elegant, mysterious, sombre, prestigious - sometimes rebellious. There were no sombre members in our entourage that evening. Perhaps the audience did become a little rebellious but the show must go on.
White implies purity, innocence and, when worn by women, often femininity. Onlookers agreed that Spindr. Collingridge's white T-shirt proclaiming, "Retired and Spending my Children's Inheritance" fairly screamed femininity and innocence.
Blue suggests trust, dependability, wisdom and respect. John Jeans (AKA Northey) commanded a great deal of respect as he strutted the catwalk in time-honoured casual wear. Members could not help but pay deference to this model's aged blue jeans, venerable T-shirt and well-seasoned jogging shoes.
Yellow triggers anxiety for some; for others, friendliness. It is the colour that attracts the eye first. Our models chose not to wear anything trigger-inducing that evening.
Green is the most relaxing colour. Orange is audacious, energizing and approachable. Gray is refinement, efficient, classic. In her classic gray-toned blazer and cream-coloured slacks, Grandma Day was clearly on her way home for a refining glass of wine after an exhaustingly efficient but typical Day's day.
As the resident expert, Madame Garish (AKA Roth) demonstrated how makeup can make a lasting impression. Her face brightened the room as she strolled the catwalk. Garish clearly impresses clients with her unforgettable makeup, but also sound economics - she garners large discounts by purchasing bulk supplies through MimiBobeckSurplusPaint.com. Garish says her flair for colour leaves a lasting impact - even on her pillowcase!
In a daring move toward the retro, Mama Riou appeared in last year's maternity suit. Since she hasn't been pregnant for some time, Mama Riou's billowing smock and generous slacks are sure to impress upon clients her unshakeable family values.
To wrap up the evening, our highly capable chair and VP, Lady Edwina Hillary (AKA Coppens) scaled the catwalk in full hiking gear, delicately accessorized by Floppy Hat topper. Lady Edwina was inclined to demonstrate how effectively dress can help one climb to the top of her field.
